Rochers de Naye rises 2042m meters above Lake Geneva and is one of those peaks you absolutely have to visit if you are in the Lake Geneva region. Offering epic views of the northern end of the lake as well as the Swiss and French Alps, Rocher de Naye is a popular day trip from Montreux.
Scenario was awesome 😍
Fantastic mountain view and a stunning 50 minutes cog wheel train up the mountain with breathtaking scenery and views of the that look directly at Lake Geneva from the top.
If you don’t have a Swiss pass, the train ride will cost you CHF 17.5 but it’s totally worth it.
Perfect place for hiking and paragliding.
What an amazing place ❤️🇨🇭
Literally loved it 😍
Really enjoyed taking the cog wheel train up to Rocher de Naye. It’s extremely popular due to Santa being there but apart from taking a couple of photos in the nicely decorated tunnel, I spent most of the time outside in the snow. It looks like it’s a great spot for skiing during winter.
Must visit !!!
Take the Funiculaire from Montreux it takes around 1 hour to get to Rochers de Naye.
Take Hiking shoes in case you want to go back down on foot !!
Access from Montreux by direct cog wheel train. Tremendous 360 degrees views ! Highly recommended
Beautiful up there. But not recommended during winter unless you’re there for snowboarding or skiiing or perhaps to visit Santa clause with your kids.
It’s an expense train ride here I think: about 20 CHF per person one way (i.e., 40 CHf return trip). You can’t get here otherwise (unless, perhaps, you hike up, but that might be impossible in winter as explained below).
All hiking trials seemed to be closed/covered with snow, hence invisible and impassable, and one of the restaurants was also closed due to snow and ice.
But it must be gorgeous up here during summer—judging from pictures I’ve seen.
I was disappointed by the restaurant up here. 18 CHF for a small bowl of fries and a mixed salad. 24 CHF for a burger. Barely any vegetarian and, as far as I remember, no vegan meal options…
Fantastic train ride from Montreux! I had never heard of this one, but it is STUNNING. 50 minutes of beautiful Swiss mountain scenery. The engineering of this route is impressive. It is super steep. Due to all the turns as well as riding on mountain ridges, you have panoramic views on both sides. The windows are very big and the seats comfortable. The train makes quite some noise, but given the steepness, it makes sense. At the top, you have approximately 1 hour if you take the next train down again. Just enough for some spectacular small hikes on the mountain ridge to take in views on Lac Leman in the west and the Alps in the east. Fortunately, you have to take the same way down again, so you can enjoy it all one more time. 10/10
What a great experience, the cog wheel train takes you from Montreux train station to the top of Rocher de Naye in 50 minutes for CHF 17.50 and leaves once every hour on plateforme 8.
During the whole trip you wish you had more eyes to look everywhere at the same time, the view by a clear and sunny day is stunning and breath taking.
Once on top, you can choose from a number of small walks or trek down towards Montreux. A must do trip in Switzerland but on a sunny day. Totally worth it ☀️🇨🇭🌲🌻
